HISTORY
Preventive Counseling is a group-counseling program. It is logical, practical, and philosophical but NOT doctrinal. It consists mainly of concerted efforts in basic concepts for harmonious living, ethical and moral responsibility. This gentle-upbeat program helps youngsters to establish reasons to "Do Right, and Go Straight". It is designed to promote healthy attitudes, develop appropriate behavior patterns, and improve self-discipline.
My father, Seth Ballard, Sr. (1897-1973), believed that children CAN learn from their mistakes BEFORE they make them. I'm inclined to agree with him, provided that they get consistent preventive counseling.
The intent of this website is to assist parents and guardians in their quest to find practical help for their children and/or the children they love.

PHILOSOPHY
In Preventive Counseling, life is viewed, as the most dangerous game one has to play. It’s a game in that there are rules and regulations to be learned and followed; dangerous in that if those rules are regulations are not learned and followed, one can be a loser. Life is a have-to-play game in that no one asks to be born.
Children are born void of knowledge, innocent in understanding, and neutral in disposition but NOT bad.
Preventive Counseling is based on the assumptions that youngsters want to be good and want to stay out of trouble, too.
Experience is not always the best teacher and bought sense is not always affordable.
A MORAL DROUGHT PRODUCES STUNTED LIVES!
